About the role
Trappers Transport LTD is seeking experienced Class 1 Commercial Truck Drivers to join our Container Fleet based out of the Winnipeg area (within 100 km).
This position offers dedicated, consistent long-haul route between Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Delta, British Columbia, averaging approximately 12,000 miles per month. Drivers complete one round trip per week, followed by a minimum 36-hour reset at home before departing on their next trip. With the same route each week, this position provides predictable scheduling, steady mileage, and regular home time.
In this position, you will be responsible for safely transporting container freight through Western Canada, including mountain routes and challenging winter driving conditions. Drivers must maintain accurate electronic logs (E-logs), complete required inspections, follow company safety procedures, and communicate effectively with dispatch to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks transporting container freight between Winnipeg, MB, and Delta, BC.
- Complete scheduled weekly round trips while maintaining safe and efficient delivery timelines.
- Navigate mountain highways and changing road conditions, including winter weather.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (E-logs), inspection reports, and shipping documentation.
- Follow all applicable transportation regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and company safety policies.
- Communicate regularly with dispatch regarding trip progress, road conditions, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure containers and loads are properly secured and transported safely.
- Report mechanical concerns, equipment defects, and safety issues promptly.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 driver's licence.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial truck driving experience.
- At least one season of winter mountain driving experience.
- Experience operating commercial trucks on long-haul routes throughout Western Canada.
- Clean driver's abstract and strong commitment to safe driving practices.
- Experience using electronic logging devices (E-logs).
- Ability to safely operate in mountainous terrain and challenging winter road conditions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with dispatch.
- Ability to complete weekly dedicated runs and comply with hours-of-service regulations.
- Previous container hauling experience is considered an asset.
